Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his team ran a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he rotated at the fourth corner soon after starting.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before spinning across the escape zone, and was lucky to avoid just a minor contact of the fence.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending corner before the final bend on to the pit straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th place, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car P3, 0.619secs behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
